On the morning of April 17, 2024, Professor Guo Zhiguang, Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Hubei University, visited the Interdisciplinary Science Research Center at Dongguan University of Technology (DGUT) for academic exchange.

Professor Liang Jun presided over the session. Dean Guo delivered an academic report titled "Biomimetic Tribology" in the conference room of the Interdisciplinary Science Research Center. The report was conducted in a hybrid format combining online and in-person participation.

In his report, Dean Guo analyzed the numerous biological surfaces in nature that possess special functions, exhibiting outstanding properties such as self-cleaning, superlubricity, superadhesion, self-healing, and fog water collection due to their unique structures. Using modern microscopic analysis instruments, Dean Guo examined the microstructures of a wide variety of biological surfaces with diverse morphologies in nature, and discussed the corresponding relationships between these microstructures and the properties they exhibit. Through approaches such as engineering biomimetics, he constructed biomimetic surfaces with similar functions, conducted comparative experiments and analyses on the advantages and disadvantages of biological surfaces versus biomimetic surfaces, and shared his original insights into their applications.

Dean Guo's report was both accessible and scientifically engaging, greatly benefiting the faculty and students in attendance. Following the report, Dean Guo engaged in in-person exchanges and discussions with the participants.

Dean Guo's presentation broadened the academic horizons of the faculty and students of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, enhanced their scientific research literacy, and held significant implications for the research and disciplinary development of the school.
