On August 11, 2023, a delegation of 26 scholars from the University of Macau, led by Tang Zikang, Dean of the Institute of Applied Physics and Materials Engineering, Vice Dean Pan Hui, Professor Sun Handong, Professor Qu Songnan, and Professor Xing Guichuan, visited the School of Materials Science and Engineering at DGUT for research exchanges and discussions. Fourteen faculty members from DGUT attended the symposium, including Wang Biao, Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Vice Dean Li Runxia, Director Lu Junqi, Professor Liang Jun, Professor Ma Lianhua, Professor Wang Anding, and Professor Hu Yangfan.

Symposium: Remarks by Dean Wang Biao

At the symposium, Dean Wang Biao extended a warm welcome to the delegation from the University of Macau on behalf of the School of Materials Science and Engineering. Dean Tang Zikang expressed his gratitude for the warm reception. During the exchange, Dean Tang presented his scientific philosophy on innovative research and the strengthening of both fundamental research and technical applications, and provided a detailed overview of his research group's projects and achievements. Dean Wang strongly endorsed the visiting scholars' research philosophy and introduced the school's significant progress in mechanics and materials. Both sides expressed a mutual desire for collaboration and in-depth exchanges in areas such as scientific research theory and technological innovation, talent cultivation, and discipline development.

Scholars from both sides engaged in in-depth exchanges on their respective research directions and achievements, reporting on the current status of their teams' research and conducting related discussions. The academic reports were as follows: Report 1 — 6G and Full-Band Electromagnetic Wave Detection (Professor Lai Shen); Report 2 — Laser Additive Manufacturing of Al-Si Alloys (Professor Li Runxia); Report 3 — Hydrogen Production via Water Electrolysis and Its Industrialization (Professor Wang Shuangpeng); Report 4 — Emergent Deformation and Phase Transitions in Functional Topological Structures (Professor Hu Yangfan); Report 5 — Quantum Computing (Professor Yin Hao); Report 6 — Design of Multi-Component Structural and Functional Metallic Materials (Professor Wang Anding); Report 7 — Research and Development of Laser Medical Devices (Associate Researcher Zhang Baofu). After the academic reports, participants from both sides toured the laser medical device achievement transformation base.
