On the morning of January 25, 2024, Professor Guan Renguo from Dalian Jiaotong University visited DGUT at the invitation of Professor Li Runxia for academic exchange and delivered an academic report titled "From the 'Wall Attachment Phenomenon' to the Manufacturing of Large Thin-Walled Aluminum Alloy Rheological Die Castings." The academic exchange was chaired by Professor Li Runxia and held in Conference Room A10 of the Interdisciplinary Science Research Center at DGUT. The report was conducted in a hybrid format combining online and in-person participation, with dozens of faculty members and students from the School of Materials Science and Engineering attending.

Professor Guan Renguo has been deeply engaged in the fields of semi-solid die casting and continuous rheological extrusion of aluminum alloys for over two decades. In this exchange, Professor Guan began with interface phenomena in nature and the wall attachment (heterogeneous) nucleation phenomenon in metal solidification processes, and presented his outstanding achievements in the field of aluminum alloy processing. First, his team developed a new generation of high-efficiency Al-Ti-B grain refiners by combining an improved molten salt reaction process. Tested by companies including CITIC Dicastal, the performance of this grain refiner was found to be significantly superior to similar products available both domestically and internationally. In addition, Professor Guan's team independently developed patented continuous rheological extrusion equipment for one-step forming of aluminum alloys and carried out trial production of large, complex, thin-walled, high-strength, and high-thermal-conductivity 5G filter housings, solving manufacturing challenges for large, complex, thin-walled aluminum alloy components. Finally, Professor Guan shared his valuable experience in applying for research funding.

The report progressed from basic concepts to advanced topics in a highly engaging manner, providing inspiration and reference for faculty and students in conducting related scientific research. Following the report, Professor Guan Renguo engaged in lively discussions with the participating faculty and students on relevant academic topics.
